Older persons in Africa, and Uganda in particular continue to face enormous life difficulties.

The major preconception is that the elderly in Africa live happily with their extended familiesthis is not true. Most of them have no access to a pension, and less than one in ten is receiving access to treatment for manageable diseases like hypertension and diabetes.

This is a two-day event to discuss Uganda’s Health Care strategy under the Theme: “Poverty, Old-Age and Right to Health: Exploring the Connections, Innovations and Opportunities”. The Symposium brings together key stakeholders who include Policymakers, Technocrats, Academicians, Civil Society Activists, Private Sector Actors, Religious Leaders, and elders across the country.
